How do I sell something on Ebay? Ebay selling advice. If you’re wondering ‘how do you sell stuff on ebay’ and you are brand new to this here’s a step-by-step guide to all the basics to help you get started:
The first thing to do is get a photo(s) of the item you are selling. Make them close-up, clear and helpful for the buyer. If you’re selling clothes, why not get a mannequin so you can photograph the clothes on that? It makes them look SO much better.
Then search for the kind of item you want to sell on eBay itself. What seems to be the best category to list your item in? Remember when you are choosing that you want your item to be found as easily as possible by potential buyers, so make the category as relevant as possible. You can list in 2 categories for an extra fee, that way you can increase the number of people who can find your item, and see which category gets best results for that type of item.
Then work out what postage you will need/want to charge, and again see what others charge for a similar item. Can you charge less? Can you give free postage? Maybe this will get you the sale over your competition?
Then click on the SELL button in eBay and fill out the simple forms that come up. You’ll need to describe your item. Don’t try and be too clever and ‘salesy’. Just give people an accurate detailed description and don’t be scared to put your personality into it and make it personal if you want. If you just give a few bare facts people may be put off. Make sure you don’t have spelling mistakes - it looks amateurish and can lessen people’s confidence in you.
If you can connect with the buyer they may choose you over someone else selling the same item at the same price. Make it clear you give great service (and make sure you do!)
Look at how the Powersellers describe their items. They are selling loads of items so what they do must work!
These are just the absolute basics of how to create your listing.
